Jalen Milroe had some fun at Nick Saban’s expense while speaking to a group of kids at his youth football camp this week.

Milroe was addressing Saban’s decision to retire and decided to poke fun at the 72-year-old former coach.

“I do miss coach Saban,” Milroe said in response to a question from one of the campers. “He was a big reason why I came to Alabama. To see him go is going to be tough on us. But we have to realize that coach Saban is 28 years from being 100 years old. So we’ve got to let him retire.”

Here’s video of the interaction:

Saban retired from Alabama earlier this offseason as arguably the greatest college football coach of all time. He won 7 national championships in his illustrious career as a college head coach, including 6 with the Crimson Tide.

Milroe is set to return as Alabama’s starting quarterback in 2024. This past season, which was Milroe’s first as a starter, he led Alabama to an SEC Championship and an appearance in the College Football Playoff.

Milroe will be working alongside new head coach Kalen DeBoer and new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb next season. DeBoer and Grubb are fresh off of a national championship game appearance at Washington this past season.
