Jalen Milroe and Alabama suffered a humbling defeat Saturday night at home against Texas. The Alabama quarterback was 14-for-27 passing for 255 yards with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He also had 15 carries for 44 yards.

After the game, he spoke with the media about the 34-24 loss.

“Honestly, we can look in the mirror and try to improve as a whole, as an offense, as a defense, just one team, one heartbeat,” Milroe said. “It’s just going to take all of us. Everyone just wanting to improve, wanting to get better. Looking at some things to improve on. I got to do better. I got to improve, I’ve got to protect the ball, I’ve got to continue to lead, and just learn, learn from it, grow from it.”

Milroe said his 2nd interception was, “all on me.”

To improve, Milroe said he would look at film and get with his coaches.

“I know I can trust in my coaching staff to want me to get better and give me the right resources to continue to improve,” Milroe said, and added that he would lean on his faith to continue to lead the team.

Milroe said even though coach Nick Saban and Alabama teammates have confidence in him, he has a next-play mentality.

“There’s 2 things we can do, we can linger on this loss, or we can try to improve and get better as a football team,” Milroe said. “And I’d bet on my guys any day of the week, so we’re going to get better from this, we’re going to learn from it and we’re going to grow.”
