Son of former NFL QB joins Alabama's team for 2019
Alabama has yet another player set to join its crowded QB room for 2019.
The son of former NFL QB Jeff George, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1990 NFL Draft, will be a preferred walk-on at Alabama. Indianapolis, Indiana, native Jayden George shared his commitment to the Tide on social media Wednesday night.
“It’s been a long process and I’m excited to announce I will be continuing my dream to play football at the University of Alabama next year!” George tweeted. “I can’t wait to be a part of something special! All glory to God! #RollTide.”
Georgia Tech had been considered a favorite to land George, and he’s taken visits to Miami and Georgia recently; however, Alabama won out in the end.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound signal caller joins Tua Tagovailoa, Mac Jones, Taulia Tagovailoa, Paul Tyson and Braxton Barker in the Tide’s QB room. He threw for 42 TDs and 3,100 yards as a senior helping his team win a state championship.
