Kalen DeBoer kept things rolling as Alabama beat out a pair of SEC teams for Luke Metz on Sunday.

The Crimson Tide beat out LSU, Ole Miss, and Michigan for the 3-star LB out of Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek. He comes in at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds.

Metz brings a lot to the table as an athlete. Not only has he spent time playing football but runs track and also plays baseball for Mill Creek.

The 247Sports Composite ranks Metz as the No. 48 LB and No. 47 Georgia prospect in the 2025 class. Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi State, and Missouri also sent Metz an offer.

Alabama was Metz’ most recent unofficial visit back on April 6. Metz is planning on visiting LSU on May 31 and Oklahoma on June 14.

Alabama has been on a roll in March. Metz became the 6th recruit to commit to DeBoer’s program from the 2025 class. He joins fellow LB commits Darrell Johnson (4-star) and Abduall Sanders Jr. (4-star). The Crimson Tide also picked up commitments from 4-star commits Derick Smith and Antonio Coleman in March. Zymear Smith committed to DeBoer as a 4-star athlete.

Outside of the March commitments, Alabama has had a pledge from 4-star running back Anthony Rogers since June. Myles Johnson has been pledged to the program since November as a 4-star athlete.

There is help heading to Tuscaloosa by way of the transfer portal too. Keon Sabb from Michigan and a host of Washington transfers in Josh Cuevas, Parker Brailsford, Germie Bernard, and Austin Mack are included alongside Naquil Betrand (Texas A&M), Domani Jackson (USC), and LT Overton (TAMU) are some recent transfer enrollees who will be playing for DeBoer in 2024.

Following Nick Saban won’t be an easy task for DeBoer, but the former Washington head coach is off to a good start on the recruiting front. Saban was consistent at Alabama, never winning fewer than 10 games from 2008-2023. The 2007 season was the only time in his tenure at Alabama where he won under 10 games in a season.

Saban’s final season as a coach ended with a loss to Michigan in the Rose Bowl. The Wolverines went on to become the eventual national champion. DeBoer was no slouch at Washington, posting a record of 25-3 in the 2 seasons he was in Seattle.

Metz’ ability to get into the backfield was on full display this past season for Mill Creek. He is more than just a good tackler, as his highlight tape showcased his ability to drop into coverage and make plays too.
