Kevin Steele is returning to Alabama for a third stint in 2023. He will take on the role of defensive coordinator once again.

When Steele was asked about what coming back to Alabama was like he stated that it was unexpected. Steele felt blessed to come back and coach under one of the greats in college football in Nick Saban.

“Shocking. I did not see it coming. It was not something I expected. But obviously when you get a chance to coach at the University of Alabama for the best coach that’s ever done it, sometimes you look in the mirror and say, ‘Why me?’ But I’m very blessed to be here. You couldn’t ask for anything better. If you’re going to coach college football, to coach at the University of Alabama for Coach Saban, that’s what you wanna do.”

The last time that Steele was Alabama’s DC was back in 2007. Steele was the first DC to work under Saban when the former Miami Dolphins HC left for the Crimson Tide.

Since 2007 Steele has had assistant roles at Clemson, LSU, Auburn, and Tennessee, and Miami not counting his previous stints with Alabama.

Alabama fans will welcome a familiar face like Steele back with open arms.
