Kirk Herbstreit has fully embraced the news about the new EA Sports college football game. The ESPN broadcaster even made a bold claim about his activity with the game.

Herbstreit recalled how he and Joey Galloway played at Ohio State, and how Herbstreit was a couple years ahead of him.

“We played, I would argue, more hours than maybe anybody in the country,” Herbstreit said. “I mean, I put serious hours in on that game, before I was a part of the game. And then when they asked me to be part of the game, they didn’t have to pay me. I mean, I was like, ‘What! I get to be on the video game? You’re kidding me. That was an all-time moment for me because I was such a gamer.”

EA Sports on Thursday released an official trailer for the release of its 2025 college football video game, a long-awaited development for fans. It’s expected to be later this year.

Herbstreit even added that Galloway was “disgustingly good” at the game. Galloway would play as Bowling Green and beat him with Josh Harris.

“He wouldn’t bring out Florida or Florida State or one of his good teams unless you beat him 2 or 3 times, and was just so obnoxious with the way he would beat you with his third or fourth team, and now that it’s coming back, I’m just thrilled,” Herbstreit said.

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated challenged Herbstreit’s claim on the amount of hours playing the game. But Herbstreit responded: “Albert I love ya bud but honestly (Joey Galloway) and our group set NCAA records (sadly) for time spent on NCAA-NHL Live-NBA Live-and The Show! Rotated with the seasons. Cmon now.”
