Alabama just can’t be stopped.

After dropping 50-plus points on all of its victims through Week 3, some thought that No. 22 Texas A&M might be able to give Alabama a game.

Wrong.

The Crimson Tide’s defense was stout, their offense efficient, and Alabama cruised to a 45-23 win over the Aggies.

Once again, Tua Tagovailoa lit up the opposing defense, racking up 387 yards and four touchdowns through the air. He’s now the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, and if he keeps up this kind of play, then it’s basically a done deal.

During an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up! Tuesday morning, Kirk Herbstreit discussed why Tagovailoa is his early Heisman favorite.

“What Tua’s doing is not fair to the rest of the planet,” Herbstreit said. “He’s out there doing things that we only see when playing video games. You’re almost starting to run out of positive things to say about him because every week he continues to raise the bar. By the way, it’s not just Tua, it’s the players around him — the receivers, the running backs, the offensive line, Mike Locksley calling the plays. It’s kind of the perfect storm which we predicted before the season started how good he could potentially be as a distributor in that offense, and I don’t think he’s going to go away.”

It’s true, it’s not just Tagovailoa who has been dominant, it’s been this Alabama team as a whole. They are definitely more than capable of being the support cast that leads Tagovailoa to another national title as well as the Heisman Trophy.

“So, he’s kind of at a level by himself right now,” said Herbstreit.

Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins is another quarterback who is on the Heisman Watch list, and Herbstreit also discussed how the Penn State game this week could help him showcase what he can do on a national stage. But it’s going to be tough to topple Tagovailoa this year.
