Lane Kiffin knows a thing or two about Alabama QBs.

Jalen Hurts, who’s locked into a position battle with Tua Tagovailoa in fall camp, has faced some criticism recently regarding his media day comments. Hurts kept silent all off-season regarding the Tide’s position battle, and he let it all out a couple of weeks ago when speaking to the media.

Kiffin has been in Hurts’ corner since he was let go at Alabama before the national championship loss to Clemson. Kiffin isn’t advocating for Hurts to start over Tagovailoa, but he surely knows, respects and remembers what Hurts has accomplished during his Alabama career thus far. After all, Hurts’ success helped Kiffin land the FAU job, right? And on Thursday, Kiffin sent a message to Hurts on social media in the form of a Forbes article titled, “How 10 High Achievers Handle Haters.”

Kiffin specifically references subheading No. 4: “Remember that successful people don’t need to put others down,” and he tells Hurts, “Be u and don’t listen to all the experts!”

While everyone thinks Tagovailoa will win the starting job, it’s certainly possible Hurts will have an important role in some facet. After all, he possesses play-making ability that other teams around college football would surely love to have. Nick Saban is certainly smart enough — and bold enough — to play both.
