Mac Jones angered Bill Belichick last season as he sought advice about the New England Patriots’ dysfunctional offense.

This news came from Chris Simms on Monday’s episode of “PFT Live” who reported that Jones called coaches at Alabama to ask for solutions for the Patriots’ offense, which struggled last season.

At issue was the failed experiment to replace offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels with long-time defensive coach Matt Patricia. Simms explained that Jones called the Alabama coaching staff in order to get some information as to how to properly run the offense under Patricia.

Tom E. Curran shared on WEEI that Jones going outside the building irked Belichick.

“That really pissed Bill off,” Curran said. “As we know, disloyalty in Bill’s mind is almost worse than bad play.”

The question moving forward is if they’re able to bury the hatchet, Curran said, and if new offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien can smooth things over.

“Bill’s still itching to teach the kid a lesson,” Curran said.
