Last week on Thursday, former Alabama safety Minkah Fitzpatrick started two things: his NFL career and his new jersey collection. He wants to collect jerseys from other former Alabama players, and he didn’t have to wait long before he crossed paths with an old teammate.

Fitzpatrick’s Miami Dolphins took on O.J. Howard’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week one of the preseason, both were teammates for two years in Tuscaloosa and part of Alabama’s 2015 College Football Playoff national-championship team. Fitzpatrick was able to successfully swap jerseys with Tampa Bay’s second-year tight end after the game.

“There’s a lot of ’Bama guys that we’re going to be playing against,” Fitzpatrick said to the daily commercial, “so I definitely want to get their jerseys and put them up on my wall.”

Fitzpatrick will have his second chance to add to his jersey collection on Aug. 25, when the Dolphins play the Baltimore Ravens, who have five former Alabama players on their roster — Anthony Averett, Bradley Bozeman, Marlon Humphrey, C.J. Mosely and Tim Williams.

“Baltimore, we’ve got a whole squad over there,” Fitzpatrick said.
