Nate Oats responded after Jay Williams compared Alabama’s fans to a tennis match during Saturday night’s ACC/SEC Challenge game between the Tide and Clemson.

Williams, who was commentating the game for ESPN, took a shot at the Alabama crowd, comparing their quietness to a tennis match.

“What’s the point of playing at home if it’s not gonna have a home court advantage,” Williams said during Tuesday’s game. “This doesn’t feel like a home court advantage at all for Alabama. The place is not packed, the fans don’t seem to be engaged, it seems to be more like a tennis match. And by the way, Clemson has been taking the air out of the building.”

Clemson ended up beating the Tide 85-77, keep its perfect record alive and handing Alabama it’s second loss.

After the game, Oats said that he didn’t blame the crowd for being quiet, as the Tide didn’t give them enough to cheer for.

“We’ve got to give them something to cheer about, to be honest with you,” Oats said in his postgame press conference. “Come out and they go on a 13-0 run and people are going to be quiet.”
