Julio Jones comments on his status in Atlanta: 'I'm out of there'
It certainly sounds like Julio Jones has played his last snap for the Atlanta Falcons.
The star receiver has played his entire professional career in Atlanta but there multiple reports leading up to the 2021 NFL Draft suggested the Falcons were shopping Jones. Of course, a deal did not occur, at least publicly leading up to the start of the new league year in June, and the speculation surrounding Jones’ status is heating up once again.
With active players like Derrick Henry calling for the Titans to acquire Jones, it seems like everyone knows the receiver will be playing elsewhere in 2021.
That goes for Julio, too.
During a phone conversion with Shannon Sharpe of FOX’s Undisputed, Julio was asked if he planned on staying in Atlanta for the upcoming season.
“I’m out of there, man,” Julio responded live on the show.
Where does Jones want to continue his career?
“Right now, I want to win,” he answered.
Following that comment, Sharpe joked that Jones shouldn’t go to the Dallas Cowboys if that was the case.
“You already know I know,” Jones fired back.
While he’s still under contract in Atlanta, Jones is set to make $15,300,000 next season with another two years and over $22 million on his contract after the 2021 NFL season.
Jones also played in just nine games last season and caught 51 passes for 771 yards, both figures are his lowest dating back to the 2013 NFL season.
This is huge: Shannon Sharpe called Julio Jones live on @undisputed: Julio said he's "out of there" when asked if he wants to stay in Atlanta. He also said he doesn't want to go to the Cowboys. "I want to win."
Holy cow. I don't think he knew he was live. pic.twitter.com/5D8cXjclQt
