As multiple head coaching jobs open up, Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin figures to draw plenty of interest.

Kiffin has extensive head coaching experience at the highest level (Southern Cal, Tennessee), and has helped to transform Alabama’s offense into arguably the best unit in the SEC. Couple that with the fact he’s a terrific recruiter, and Kiffin brings undeniable appeal to the table.

His name has been associated with multiple jobs — including the likes of Oregon and Houston, as well as the offensive coordinator job at LSU, which would allow him to join forces with his old friend Ed Orgeron. While there’s nothing concrete in terms of Kiffin leaving, this speculation could ultimately have an adverse impact on recruiting.

During a Sunday conference call, Alabama head coach Nick Saban had this to say on the Kiffin rumors:

“Well, I know nothing about it first of all, so I don’t think I should comment on things that I don’t know anything about. [Kiffin] hasn’t said anything about that, and I think he would tell me if something was going on.”

Alabama will take on Florida in the SEC Championship Game this upcoming Saturday. It remains to be seen whether these rumors will impact the team or not. If Saban has anything to say about it, the conjecture will be squashed immediately.

LSU has reportedly expressed interest in making Kiffin the highest paid coordinator in college football.
