Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide are in the process of preparing for the Rose Bowl, which is famously called “The Granddaddy of Them All.”

But nothing is more grand than Saban balancing between putting together a game plan against top-ranked Michigan in the College Football Playoff semifinals, along with Early Signing Day and the recruiting process around it.

On The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday, Saban said he is spending a good amount of time recruiting, but the Crimson Tide head coach has “a lot of balls in the air at this time.”

“I think every college coach would tell you, this 2-week period where you’re trying to get ready for a game, where you’re trying to finish recruiting, where you’ve got signing day coming up, is a really difficult time to manage in terms of where are you going to invest the most time,” Saban said.

Saban noted that once practice picks up for a game as it gets closer, recruiting becomes “a little more difficult.”

“It’s a little more challenging to stay with the recruiting aspects of it,” Saban said.

Saban digressed by saying he’s happy with Alabama’s 2024 class:

“We’re really pleased with the guys we’ve got,” Saban said. “They’re the right kind of people, they’re the right kind of guys. Hopefully, we can add some more good players down the road, and we’ll just keep working on it.”

The No. 4 Crimson Tide are set to face the top-seeded Wolverines in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN.
