Before the start of Alabama’s fall camp, news spread that LB Eyabi Anoma was not enrolled in classes.

It would later come out that Anoma was not even in Tuscaloosa and had reportedly flown back to the DMV area. A report that stated Anoma had flown back to the Washington D.C. area also quoted sources saying Anoma was not expected to return to Alabama and would likely transfer to Maryland. When Alabama revealed its updated roster for the 2019 season, Anoma’s name was nowhere to be found. At his Saturday press conference, Saban was asked about Anoma’s situation and departure.

“He was dismissed by the university,” Saban said. “That’s really all I can say about it.”

Anoma is a former 5-star recruit rated the No. 4 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2018. The outside linebacker/defensive end recorded nine tackles in the 2018 campaign and was set to be a sophomore this fall. He was recognized as an All-SEC Freshman selection by the league’s coaches last season.
