Nick Saban took to the podium on Monday to discuss the College Football Playoff national championship, and what he expects from next week’s game. But the Alabama coach also was asked about ways to improve the semifinals since a majority of them have been lopsided, including this year’s Cotton and Orange bowls.

Would expanding the Playoff help make games more even, or would help cut down on as many blowouts as there have been historically?

“If this is the best 4 teams and they played each other, I don’t see the logic that if we had more teams, they would be better games. I don’t see how that adds up,” Saban said.

Alabama beat Cincinnati 27-6 in the Cotton Bowl, while Georgia dispatched of Michigan 34-11 in the Orange Bowl.

The national championship game is set for 8 p.m. on Jan. 10 on ESPN from Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium.
