Nick Saban knows that Alabama broadcaster Eli Gold is an important part of Alabama football. Gold has been battling cancer and will return to the broadcast booth in 2023.

Saban was asked about Gold at Wednesday’s press conference. Saban is thrilled to work the longtime Crimson Tide broadcaster once again this season.

“I love Eli. He’s been with us for a long time. He’s kind of a part of the tradition around here with the expectation of being the voice of the Crimson Tide Network in a lot of ways. Whether it’s the radio show or whatever it is, I’m just happy for his family that he’s getting healthier and he’s able to get around. I’m excited to have him back because I love working with him.”

Gold has been the radio broadcaster for Alabama football and basketball since the 1988 season. It’s great news that the voice of Crimson Tide football and basketball is coming back this season, and Saban knows just how important Gold is to fans.

Gold missed the 2022 season with what he described as an orthopedic issue. Back in January, he released a statement confirming that he had been diagnosed with a treatable form of cancer.

Alabama fans will love hearing his voice again in 2023.
