Tim Brando last week took a shot at the SEC’s Week 12 schedule, and this week he’s back at it again with his view on the Heisman Trophy conversation.

The consensus frontrunner for much of the season has been Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa. But the FOX Sports play-by-play broadcaster went a different direction with his pronouncement of Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray ahead of Tagovailoa.

“The Heisman conversation will peak in the next week or two, and I’m going to tell you right now that Tua Tagovailoa had this baby wrapped up a month ago,” Brando said. “As an old friend of mine might say, ‘Not so fast.'” The reason? Kyler Murray is too fast. Yeah, he’s a one-hit wonder.”

Brando then rattled off a recent stat line of Murray’s against lowly Kansas where he went 21-for-32 for 272 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He also had a 75-yard touchdown run. Murray has 34 TD passes with six interceptions, Brando pointed out.

Countering the argument that Tagovailoa has fewer interceptions, Brando said at Alabama, the quarterback doesn’t have to throw it as much to be successful.

“Quite frankly, the best player in college football may not win the Heisman, but the best player is Kyler Murray,” Brando said.
