Pete Golding has a strong defender in his father.

Skip Golding has called into “The Paul Finebaum Show” before, but he did it again on Tuesday to defend his son, Pete Golding, the Alabama defensive coordinator, after comments made by regular caller “Legend” criticizing both Alabama coordinators.

“Skip from Louisiana,” as he was identified on the show, recalled how he coached football for 44 years, and played for 14 years, and said that, “I don’t believe that man ever played or coached a down, and he’s telling people that know what the hell they’re doing, what to do.”

Skip Golding then recalled Alabama’s recruiting successes in recent years.

“It upsets me that he’s able to be on national TV and degrade my son who has earned every bit of what he’s gotten when he doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” Skip Golding said.

Skip Golding also predicted that his son would call him later Tuesday evening, “and not be very happy because I called you” after he said that Alabama coaches work from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. 7 days a week.

Finebaum added that there isn’t a father in America who wouldn’t defend his son, and that Finebaum himself gives opinions and he didn’t play or coach football.
