Alabama and Clemson appear to be on a collision course for a meeting in the national championship, and a Vegas betting line is out.

Super Book USA lists Alabama as an 8.5 favorite over Clemson, the only possible opponent the Crimson Tide aren’t a two touchdown favorite over among College Football Playoff contenders.

Alabama has won two of the three meetings between the teams since 2016. The Crimson Tide won 45-40 in 2016, Clemson won 35-31 in 2017 and Alabama won 24-6 earlier this year, all on the Crimson Tide’s path to two of the last three national championships.

The Crimson Tide and Tigers, ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the College Football Playoff rankings, appear to be the clearest consensus to make the top four rankings when the field is set in December. There appears to be a considerable drop in level of play from these two, to the No. 3 and No. 4 teams as the CFP committee will likely choose between a slew of one-loss teams.
