Alabama commit Quandarrius Robinson has surged in the recruiting rankings unlike any other.

Currently, Robinson is rated a 4-star prospect, but he’s now ranked as the nation’s No. 30 overall player, the No. 3 OLB and the state of Alabama’s No. 1 overall prospect for the class of 2020, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He’s on the verge of becoming a 5-star prospect, and he will likely be elevated to that status this year.

But things didn’t start that way for Robinson. In fact, the Birmingham, Alabama, native started out as the nation’s No. 276 overall player in February. He then made moves to No. 246 to No. 183 to No. 53 and, now, to No. 30 overall. That’s 246 spots for you non-math majors.

The 6-5, 217-pound Robinson is a big-time athlete who should excel in Nick Saban’s defense.

AL.com recently caught up with 247Sports’ Barton Simmons who explained why Robinson made such a huge jump in the rankings.

“I think seeing is believing with him,” Simmons told the outlet. “What he’s really shown us is a ceiling that not many defenders in this class have. He’s got great length. He’s got a frame that has a ton of upside. So that is eye-opening in and of itself. But when you watch him move, when you see the way he tests, when you see the versatility he presents, being somebody that can play in space and has the spatial awareness in coverage that’s rare and also has this edge pass rush athleticism, there’s just a real kind of light bulb that turns on in terms of all the different ways that he can be a dominant player in the college game.”

Robinson committed to Alabama on June 11, after previously decommitting from Auburn in January.
