TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — University of Alabama juniors Reggie Ragland and Jarran Reed announced that they’re returning for their final year of eligibility.

“I’ve decided to come back for my senior season! Roll Tide!!!” Ragland first tweeted on Thursday, which was the deadline for underclassmen to announce if they were declaring themselves eligible for the 2015 NFL Draft.

“I’ve thought a lot about this decision and talked to my family, Coach Saban, and everyone close to me,” Ragland later said in a release. “I’m going to return to the University of Alabama for my senior season. One of the big factors for me and my family is earning my degree and I’m on track to graduate. You only form a brotherhood like this once and I look forward to spending another season here with my teammates. Roll Tide.”

During his first season as a starter Ragland finished second in team tackles with 95, including 10.5 for a loss and 1.5 sacks. The semifinalist for the Butkus Award also had an interception, defended three passes, forced a fumble and recovered a team-high three fumbles.

Reed, a junior-college transfer last season, led the defensive line with 55 tackles, including 6.5 tackles for a loss and one sack. He also broke up five passes.

“After sitting down with my family, Coach Saban and Coach Davis, I have decided to return to Alabama for my senior year,” Reed said. “I am on track to finish my degree and that is very important to me. The chance to play in the NFL is still my dream, but I am excited about another year at Alabama with my teammates. I learned a lot being here last year, and I’m confident another year will only improve my chances to succeed in the future.”

Safety Landon Collins, wide receiver Amari Cooper and running back T.J. Yeldon have already declared their intention to go pro. The NFL and NCAA now allows them three days in which they can change their mind assuming they haven’t signed with an agent yet (Collins has).
