Alabama will reportedly be losing one of its top recruiters.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that Crimson Tide offensive line coach Brent Key is expected to leave for a position at Georgia Tech. The draw for Key looks to be a reunion with Geoff Collins, the new Yellow Jackets head coach. Collins and Key know each other well. Key played at GT while Collins was a graduate assistant (1999-2000). Then, in 2001, Collins became Tech’s tight ends coach when Key joined the staff as graduate assistant. The two also worked together at UCF in the 2008 and ’09 seasons.

The AJC’s report indicates that Key will coach offensive line at Georgia Tech, but could also be granted an additional title such as associate head coach.

In addition to coaching six All-SEC offensive lineman at Alabama, Key’s departure is also likely to be felt on the recruiting trail. Key is the No. 2 recruiter in the country on the 247Sports Composite, behind only Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi.
