Alabama sophomore DL Raekwon Davis has been impressive this summer, but now his status for the start of the 2017 season is in question.

According to TideSports.com, the Crimson Tide defender was shot in the right leg early Sunday morning outside a bar in Tuscaloosa.

The report states that Davis was not the intended target, but the injury required a trip to the hospital for treatment:

“The victim told investigators he was standing outside of Bar 17 when he heard several gunshots and realized he had been shot in the right leg,” Homicide Unit commander Capt. Gary Hood said. “The victim was uncooperative with investigators.”

Davis was hospitalized after the incident, but was reportedly uncooperative when investigators tried to take a report from him.

Davis has been projected to start at defensive end this year. It remains to be seen how the gunshot wound affects his status heading into the 2017 season.

Davis recorded one sack while appearing in seven games last season.
