According to a report by BamaInsider.com’s Tony Tsoukalas, Alabama has hired Stevon Moore as a defensive analyst.

Moore served as the Secondary and Special Teams Coach for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 2017, and he played under Nick Saban and Bill Belichick on the Cleveland Browns. Saban was Moore’s DC from 1992-94.

Moore has coached at Mississippi Gulf Coast since 2002.

The former Ole Miss Rebels standout knows the state of Mississippi very well, and he brings a wealth of NFL knowledge with him. He played nine years in the NFL at safety for the Dolphins (1990-91), Browns (1992-95) and Ravens (1996-99). He was a seventh round draft pick in 1989.

Moore started four years at Ole Miss, becoming a freshman All-American in 1985 and was named All-SEC in 1986 and 1988.

Alabama’s coaching staff has had a major shakeup this off-season. DC Jeremy Pruitt left for the Tennessee head coaching job, while DBs coach Derrick Ansley left for a position with the Oakland Raiders. OC Brian Daboll also returned to the NFL with the Buffalo Bills.

Most recently, Alabama named Jeff Banks its special teams coordinator.
