Blake Barnett is long removed from his career at Alabama. However, the former Crimson Tide quarterback is still playing at the college level, and he’s going to reportedly be seeing the field this season.

According to Chris Torello of Spectrum Sports 360, Barnett has been named the starting quarterback at USF this season. Barnett transferred to USF after previously playing at Alabama (2015-16) and Arizona State (2017).

Barnett joined USF as a graduate transfer in May after earning a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State earlier this year. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Although this is his third school, Barnett doesn’t have much playing experience. After redshirting in 2015, Barnett started the first game of the 2016 season for Alabama. However, he was replaced by then-freshman Jalen Hurts, who started the rest of the year.

Barnett played in three games in 2016, going 11-for-19 for 219 yards and two touchdowns.

At Arizona State last season, Barnett played in four games, going 3-for-5 for 40 yards and one interception.

Now that Barnett will be a starter for the first time since the first game of the 2016 season, he should get more of an opportunity to play.

USF opens its season against Elon on Sept. 1.
