Richard Young is taking his talents to Alabama. The 5-star running back out of Florida made his announcement on Friday.

Young shared the news on his Twitter account, calling Tuscaloosa “Sweet Home Alabama.”

Young, out of Lehigh Acres, Florida, is listed at 5-11, 200 pounds. He is rated the No. 2 running back, No. 6 Sunshine State product and No. 24 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2023 on the 247Sports Composite. Young picked up 59 scholarship offers during his recruitment. He used his official visits to check out Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Oregon in June. Earlier this month, Young named the Crimson Tide, Bulldogs and Ducks as his final 3.

UA has a loaded backfield class. Less than 2 weeks ago, Justice Haynes, a top-40 overall prospect and UGA legacy out of Buford (Georgia), announced his pledge to the Crimson Tide.

With Young on board, Alabama has 16 commitments for 2023. Crimson Tide recruiting has been on fire, adding 8 commitments this month, including Young and 5-star safety Caleb Downs this week. The Tide’s class now has 13 Composite blue-chip pledges, including 4 5-star prospects.

As a junior in 2021, Young recorded 1,755 rushing yards, averaging 9 yards per carry. Highlights from that season can be viewed below, via Hudl:
