Ryan Williams is back in the fold at Alabama.

The 5-star wide receiver decommitted from Alabama after Nick Saban’s retirement, but he has now announced that he plans to play for new head coach Kalen DeBoer. Williams shared the big news on social media.

A Saraland (Alabama) High School standout, Williams is listed as measuring over 6-feet and 165 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Williams is rated 5-stars, the No. 2 player in the state of Alabama, No. 3 wide receiver and No. 6 prospect overall in the Class of 2025.

A big recruiting win for DeBoer

Williams’ recruitment had numerous developments. He had been a Class of 2025 prospect until reclassifying in December.

Though he reclassified for 2024, Williams did not sign during December’s Early Signing Period. He was an unsigned verbal pledge at the time of Saban’s retirement.

Earlier this month, Williams scheduled visits with LSU, Alabama, Texas and Auburn, but the recruitment was widely considered a Bama-Auburn battle. On Jan. 10, following Saban’s retirement, a pair of 247Sports recruiting experts logged Crystal Ball predictions for Williams to sign with AU. Crystal Balls for Alabama came in earlier Wednesday.

Alabama is still Alabama, but DeBoer, offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard have a lot to celebrate after winning a big-time recruiting battle. Auburn had a big jump on recruiting a top in-state prospect who decommitted from UA, and DeBoer’s staff was able to get him to rejoin Alabama’s 2024 class.
