Ryan Williams, who has drawn comparisons to Julio Jones and Amari Cooper, made it official on Wednesday as the elite athlete signed with Alabama. During a signing ceremony at his high school with teammates, Williams announced the move and added “Roll Tide!”

Williams is the 2nd-highest Alabama wide receiver recruit in 247Sports rankings history behind Jones and ahead of Calvin Ridley. Williams accepts the Jones comparisons, and noted that with more work, he could be better than Jones.

Williams signed on Wednesday after he previously said he would wait until Friday — his 17th birthday — to sign.

Williams, a 5-star wide receiver, decommitted from Alabama after Nick Saban’s retirement, but he recommitted to new head coach Kalen DeBoer about 2 weeks ago. Williams said on the day he was named Mr. Football in Alabama that recommitting to the Crimson Tide was “definitely one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life.”

A Saraland (Alabama) High School standout, Williams is 6-feet and 165 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Williams is the No. 2 player in the state of Alabama, No. 3 wide receiver and No. 4 prospect overall in the Class of 2024. He reclassified from the 2025 class to this year.
