Nick Saban enjoyed historic success at Alabama, particularly when the Crimson Tide had the support of the home crowd in Tuscaloosa. UA announced Friday that games will now be played on Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The dedication of Saban Field is set for Sept. 7 when Alabama hosts USF (6 p.m. CT/7 p.m. ET, ESPN).

“We are humbled that The University of Alabama has honored us with the naming of Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium,” Saban said in a program release. “The remarkable success that the football program has achieved over the past 17 years is a reflection of the hard work of many student-athletes, coaches and staff. Being leader of the process at Alabama has been the greatest privilege of my life. Terry and I are grateful for the naming of Saban Field, which forever celebrates our accomplishments.”

Saban posted a 206-29 record during his Alabama tenure for a winning percentage of 87.7%. The Crimson Tide was particularly dominant at Bryant-Denny Stadium, going 108-9 at home under Saban. Three of the 9 home losses came during the 2007 season, Saban’s first as the Alabama head coach.

“We are thrilled to honor Coach Saban with the naming of Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium,” Alabama Director of Athletics Greg Byrne said in a released statement. “He is one of the greatest coaches of all time, impacting countless lives far beyond football. What he and Ms. Terry mean to The University of Alabama and Tuscaloosa community is immeasurable. They continue to be tremendous ambassadors, and we look forward to celebrating with them in September.”

It’s safe to assume that Alabama-USF won’t be the only game Saban takes in at his namesake field this fall. Shortly after stepping away from coaching Saban joined ESPN as a college football analyst. Fans will see him Saturday mornings on College GameDay.

Saban made his ESPN debut during the 2024 NFL Draft and was part of SEC Media Days coverage this week. Alabama’s 2024 home SEC schedule includes Georgia (Sept. 28), South Carolina (Oct. 12), Mizzou (Oct. 26) and Auburn (Nov. 30).
