Sam Acho and Stanford Steve talked about Alabama’s defensive standing in 2022.

Alabama’s defense has been tested throughout the season and Saturday’s game against LSU will be the latest test. At times, Alabama has struggled on defense and it partially cost the team a perfect season.

In the latest episode of ESPN’s College Football Live, Acho and Steve discussed Alabama’s performance on defense. Acho answered a question about Alabama turning a corner on the defensive end:

“They have, especially since that Tennessee game. In that Tennessee game, specifically the guys on the defensive line, couldn’t get any pressure on Hendon Hooker, specifically sacks,” Acho said. “They backed that up by some big plays from Dallas Turner and Will Anderson. The team combined against Mississippi State for 4 sacks. Those 2 guys combined for 10 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and tackles for loss. They were all over the field.”

Acho noted how the defense improved in the last game against Mississippi State. It was big improvement from the loss to Tennessee. For Steve, he agreed with Acho, but wanted to see how the defense would handle being on the road.

“I’m just wondering about being on the road. We saw them go to Austin, Texas and play well defensively, went to Arkansas and played okay, and went to Knoxville and just got gutted,” Steve said.

Alabama will need a big performance from the defense to ensure a win over LSU.
