Stephen A Smith is a long-time supporter of Alabama, and he’s increasingly taking exception to Paul Finebaum’s characterization of the Crimson Tide struggling this season.

The ESPN personalities went at it on Wednesday on ESPN’s First Take.

Smith questioned whether there was something wrong with Finebaum, and wondered why he went on national television talking about one season is the “end of Alabama.” Smith called it blasphemous, heinous and unforgivable.

Finebaum then pointed out that in Nick Saban’s 6 national championships at Alabama, he lost 1 road game. In the last 2 years, Saban is 5-3, and Finebaum added, “So don’t tell me that we’re just trying to upset you, that it’s blasphemous, these are facts, this is a trend line.”

Smith then brought up the injured wide receivers from last season, and noted that Bryce Young doesn’t have quality targets this season.

“I don’t think that will last, they will correct this, and next year will be different,” Smith said.

Chris “Mad Dog” Russo added that Saban should go to “math class” and not go for a 2-point conversion in a 21-17 game in the fourth quarter.
