Alabama starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was a participant during positional drills during the team’s practice Tuesday according to AL.com.

The drills were reportedly more than just throwing, as Tagovailoa also moved around to drop back and throw. The Alabama quarterback is coming back from ankle surgery after suffering a right ankle injury against Tennessee on Oct. 19. He hasn’t played since then.

This is the second straight day Tagovailoa has been practicing, but last week’s practices weren’t open to the media because of Alabama’s bye week. Tagovailoa may have been participating in some drills last week as well.

Alabama hosts No. 1 LSU this Saturday, so the Crimson Tide obviously hope their starting quarterback will be healthy enough to play. If not, Alabama will be forced to turn to backup signal caller Mac Jones, who beat Arkansas on Oct. 26 in Tagovailoa’s absence.

Tagovailoa has averaged 11.2 yards per pass with 27 touchdowns and only two interceptions this season. Last year, he also averaged 11.2 yards per attempt with 43 touchdowns and six picks in 15 games.
