Remember when satellite camps were such a big deal?

It briefly wanted to make us pit Jim Harbaugh and Nick Saban in a cage match because of the back-and-forth chatter they caused last year, but since that time, all the talk has died down.

Harbaugh ribbed Alabama last year over Saban’s comments.

It’s not everyday that Nick Saban shows up to a football camp when it’s not at the University of Alabama, but the beautiful thing is that any prospect in a satellite camp can be seen by multiple coaches.

And in the case of USF’s satellite camp, the boss man himself made an appearance Saturday.

247Sports’ Josh Newberg caught Saban strolling in with assistant coaches Brent Key and Mike Locksley.

This marks Saban’s first satellite camp, and he reportedly did it because Urban Meyer showed up to one, too, at FAU.

Saban was outspoken against satellite camps just last year, calling them the “wild wild West.”

“This is the wild, wild West at its best. There have been no specific guidelines relative to how we’re managing control of this stuff. It’s happening outside the normal evaluation window, which means we’re taking time away from our players. We have to worry about our players doing the right things with the limited time we have them, but we’re not going to do that because we have to be somewhere else to see someone else.”

But hey, if the NCAA is allowing them, Saban will take every opportunity to make his program better.
