Alabama has been playing football since 1892, and since then the school has had dominant teams and players in just about every decade.

With that in mind, it’s no surprise to see the Crimson Tide’s individual records spread across several decades. Several of the most prominent records, including single-game, single-season and career have been broken and reset a few times in the last decade.

Do any of this year’s Crimson Tide players have a chance at breaking the major individual marks in the Alabama record book?

Passing

Single-game yards: Scott Hunter, 484 (vs. Auburn, 1969)
Single-game touchdowns: Gary Hollingsworth, 5 (at Ole Miss, 1989)

Will they be broken?: Unlikely, but possible — With Lane Kiffin running the offense, the Crimson Tide have gotten more pass heavy. However, if last year’s offense (the most prolific passing team in school history) didn’t break these, it might be out of the question, especially with no proven quarterback.

Single-season yards: Blake Sims, 3,487 (2014)
Single-season touchdowns: AJ McCarron, 30 (2012)

Will they be broken?: Possible — Again, Kiffin’s offense throws the ball more than Nick Saban’s teams traditionally did. But there’s no Cooper to throw to this year, which could cut down the chances of another record-breaking season from Jacob Coker or whoever else plays quarterback.

Career yards: McCarron, 9,019 (2010-13)
Career touchdowns: McCarron, 77

Will they be broken?: No — Alabama will have a first-year starter at quarterback, and Coker is the only player on the roster to attempt a pass at the college level.

Rushing

Single-game yards: Shaun Alexander, 291 (at LSU, 1996)
Single-game touchdowns: Alexander (vs. BYU, 1996) and Santonio Beard (vs. Ole Miss, 2002), 5

Will they be broken?: Possible — Derrick Henry is going to be the lead dog in the offense that won’t have an experienced passer, which could mean that Henry is counted on to provide a lot of offense for the Tide.

Single-season yards: Trent Richardson, 1,679 (2011)
Single-season touchdowns: Richardson, 21 (2011)

Will they be broken?: Possible — Again, Henry is going to be a major player this year, especially without much experience behind him or under center.

Career yards: Alexander, 3,565 (1996-99)
Career touchdowns: Mark Ingram, 42 (2010-12)

Will they be broken?: Highly unlikely — It would take 2,200 yards and 28 touchdowns for Henry to best the marks that Alexander and Ingram set over their careers. While two backs around the nation topped 2,000 yards last year, it’s only been done three times in the last five years, and not once in the SEC.

Receiving

Single-game catches: DJ Hall (vs. Tennessee, 2007) and Amari Cooper (twice, 2014), 13
Single-game yards: Cooper, 224 (twice, 2014)
Single-game touchdowns: Multiple receivers, 3 (most recent: Cooper, vs. Auburn, 2014)

Will they be broken?: Unlikely — Alabama won’t have one workhorse receiver this year like it did with Cooper last year, although if Kiffin does remain pass-heavy, then someone like ArDarius Stewart or Robert Foster could end up with the game of a lifetime.

Single-season catches: Cooper, 124 (2014)
Single-season yards: Cooper, 1,727 (2014)
Single-season touchdowns: Cooper, 16 (2014)

Will they be broken?: Highly unlikely — With no clear-cut go-to receiver, it’s far more likely to see two 60-catch receivers than one have a season anywhere close to Cooper’s record-setting year.

Career catches: Cooper, 228 (2012-14)
Career yards: Cooper, 3,463
Career touchdowns: Cooper, 31

Will they be broken?: No — Just like at quarterback, Alabama will be turning to a crew of inexperienced players with hardly any stats on their resumes.

Defense

Single-game tackles: DeMeco Ryans, 25 (vs. Arkansas, 2003)
Single-game sacks: Derrick Thomas, 5 (at Texas A&M, 1988)
Single-game interceptions: Multiple players, 3

Will they be broken?: The sack record seems out of the question, while Alabama’s defensive line is too good at stopping the run for a linebacker to rack up that many tackles in a game. The interception record could happen on a lucky day for any defensive back, but it’s a rare occurrence throughout Tide history.

Single-season tackles: Woodrow Lowe, 134 (1973)
Single-season sacks: Thomas, 27.0 (1988)
Single-season interceptions: Hootie Ingram, 10 (1952)

Will they be broken?: Try not to laugh while thinking about anyone in college football touching Thomas’ 27 sacks this year. Alabama’s leading tacklers have been around 100 each year in the Saban era, and no Alabama player has had more than four interceptions in a season since 2010.

Career tackles: Wayne Davis, 327 (1983-86)
Career sacks: Thomas, 52.0 (1985-88)
Career interceptions: Antonio Langham, 19 (1990-93)

Will they be broken?: No — Alabama, despite several key veterans on defense, simply doesn’t have anyone close to being in range for these records.
