Cam Skattebo consoled by teammates after Herculean Peach Bowl effort

Cam Skattebo gave it everything he had on Wednesday at the Peach Bowl.
Arizona State’s star running back did a little bit of everything against the Texas Longhorns. He threw for a touchdown, rushed for 132 yards and hauled in 8 receptions for 99 yards. He finished as the leading receiver and rusher for the Sun Devils and accounted for all 3 ASU touchdowns, 2 rushing and 1 passing.
But despite this Herculean effort, Skattebo and the Sun Devils are headed home. Arizona State fell to Texas 39-31, ultimately not able to keep the Longhorns out of the end zone when it mattered. A game-sealing interception by Texas’s Andrew Mukuba ended what might have been the game of the 2024-25 season.
After the game, Skattebo was seen being consoled by his teammates, obviously overcome with emotion. Check out the postgame scene below:
It’s hard not to be impressed with Kenny Dillingham’s Sun Devils after Wednesday. They gave Texas the best game an underdog has so far across these College Football Playoff matchups. Not to mention, they did it all while being projected to finish at the bottom of the Big 12.
Texas now moves on to the national semifinal, awaiting the winner of Oregon-Ohio State (being played now on ESPN).
