Arkansas is off to a 1-0 start after recording a 6-4 come-from-behind win over James Madison on Friday afternoon.

The Razorbacks fell behind 3-0 after the top of the 1st inning, but didn’t take long to respond. Arkansas scored 2 runs in each of the first 3 frames to take a 6-3 lead heading into the 4th. JMU later tacked on another run to make it 6-4, but couldn’t catch the Razorbacks on Opening Day.

Hagen Smith got the start on the mound for the Hogs, but was pulled after he gave up 3 runs in the opening frame. Will McEntire came into the game in relief and scattered just 3 hits and 1 run over 5.2 innings of work. Gage Wood then slammed the door with a 7-out save to close out the game. He struck out 4 and gave up just 1 hit over 2.1 scoreless innings.

Offensively, Arkansas did all of its work in the early innings. Jared Sprague-Lott reached base 4 times (2 hits, 2 walks), homered and drove in a pair of runs in the win. Junior catcher Hudson White also hit a home run in the victory.
