Arkansas forward Justin Smith is moving on.

He announced on Sunday evening that he plans to hire an agent and pursue professional basketball:

Smith played one season at Arkansas after transferring from Indiana following the 2019 season. For the Razorbacks, he scored a career-high 13.6 points per game. He was eligible to return to Arkansas for a fifth year of eligibility because of the pandemic.

He helped lead Arkansas to its first Elite Eight since 1995. He totaled 12 points and 14 rebounds in a 72-70 victory over Oral Roberts in the Sweet 16. 11 of those boards came on the offensive glass.

Smith scored a season-high 27 points against Colgate in the NCAA Tournament. He cleared 20+ points on five different occasions this year, with three of them coming in the postseason.

Arkansas is losing a lot of talent off last season’s roster. In addition to Smith, leading scorer Moses Moody is also entering the NBA draft.

However, the Razorbacks have been active in the transfer portal. They’ve already added guard Au’Diese Toney from Pitt and guard Chris Lykes from Miami.
