Arkansas and head coach Sam Pittman are expected to have one assistant coaching spot to fill this offseason.

Luke Fickell is reportedly bringing a former Ohio State quarterback to his Wisconsin staff. In fact, it’s a former Buckeye Fickell is well-accustomed to from his own coaching days in Columbus.

According to John Brice with Football Scoop, Fickell is expected to hire Kenny Guiton as the new wide receivers coach for the Badgers. Fickell had an opening on his staff after losing Mike Brown to Notre Dame.

Guiton makes the move to Madison after spending the past three seasons on Sam Pittman’s staff at Arkansas. Guiton served as WRs coach for the Razorbacks and also served as the interim OC this season following the firing of Dan Enos.

The relationship between Guiton and Fickell dates back to 2009 when Fickell was an assistant at Ohio State and Guiton was a QB for Jim Tressel. Guiton was also a part of the program when Fickell served as interim coach for the 2011 season, though his most extensive playing time came in 2013 when Fickell was back in his role as co-defensive coordinator.

Though Guiton never held onto the starting job in Columbus, he delivered a memorable 6-touchdown performance against Florida A&M during the 2013 season. That mark is still tied with a number of other Buckeyes for the single-game record at Ohio State.

As for the Badgers, the hiring of Guiton is expected to be a positive one for Fickell. Guiton was well-regarded within the Razorbacks, including how he handled the 2023 season on Pittman’s staff.
