Could this be the start of some form of compromise for Razorback fans?

The never-ending debate among Arkansas fans on if the team should annually be playing in Little Rock or keep all the program’s games in Fayetteville isn’t going away anytime soon but it turns out Chad Morris’ first Arkansas team will play twice in War Memorial Stadium in 2018.

According to an email from Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek, the Razorbacks have been granted a waiver by the SEC to hold the upcoming spring game in Little Rock according to Matt Jones of Whole Hog Sports. The game will be played Saturday, April 7 and 1 p.m. CT. The spring game will be free to attend.

The new leadership at Arkansas clearly wants to get the entire state behind the football team, something that may not have been the case in the past.

“One thing that has become abundantly clear to Coach (Chad) Morris and me is the importance of the Razorbacks throughout the state,” Yurachek said in the email. “…To better connect our new staff and program across the state this Spring, Coach Morris and I have decided that we will be taking the spring game to War Memorial Stadium on April 7.”

If the game is a success, it will be interesting to see if Arkansas tries to make the trip to Little Rock an annual event. While Arkansas did need a waiver from the league to move the game in 2018, the SEC has been known to give waivers to certain schools — such as Mississippi State’s cowbells.

The Razorbacks are also set to host Ole Miss for a regular season game in Little Rock on Oct. 13.
