The No. 11 Arkansas Razorbacks defeated the No. 14 seed Vanderbilt Commodores Wednesday night 86-73 in the first round of the SEC Basketball Tournament.

The Hogs seized control from the start in the first half by leading Vanderbilt 38-26 at halftime, and despite a much better second half by the Commodores, Arkansas pulled away late.

Mason Jones led all Arkansas scorers with 22 points, while Desi Sills added 20 off the bench. Jones also added 6 assists, while Sills was on fire from 3-point range going 5-for-6. Isaiah Joe also finished with 18 points. All total, the Hogs finished 12-28 from 3-point range, and that was a major difference in the game.

Vanderbilt was led by star Saben Lee who had a game-high 30 points. Both Scotty Pippen Jr. and Dylan Disu finished in double figures. The Commodores, led by first-year head coach Jerry Stackhouse, finished the season with just 11 wins.

The Hogs advance to the second round to play the No. 6 South Carolina Gamecocks Thursday night at 9 p.m. The Gamecocks beat the Razorbacks 79-77 in January.
