Chad Morris is back in the college coaching ranks.

Texas State is expected to add the former Arkansas and SMU head coach, and Clemson offensive coordinator, to its coaching staff. Morris would coach the wide receivers and be the passing game coordinator, according to Ishmael Johnson of Texasfootball.com.

Morris last season was a special assistant to Dabo Swinney at Clemson, in 2022 was on the South Florida staff as a senior offensive analyst, and in 2021 was a high school coach in Texas.

GJ Kinne, the Texas State coach, was a graduate assistant under Morris at SMU in 2017.

As a head coach, Morris is 18-40 overall, including a 4-18 run at Arkansas in 2018 and 2019.

After a successful high school coach in Texas, Morris’ career accomplishments are mostly at Clemson when he was the coordinator from 2011 to 2014. Then, the Tigers set 127 offensive records and posted the top 3 scoring seasons in school history, as well as 4 of the top 5 passing seasons at Clemson.
