During a recent appearance on the Paul Finebaum Show, first-year Arkansas coach Chad Morris said that his quarterback battle could carry into the regular season.

When asked about the continuing battle in Fayetteville, here’s what Morris said:

“I get asked about that quite a bit and right now, Paul, going into basically the week before our mock game week we aren’t ready to name a guy just yet. We are looking for that guy to really just take a lead and take this thing over and make it clear cut. Both of these guys have been competing against each other and we’ve had to have that guy that just pulls away. We will look to name someone toward the end of the week, first of next week and nothing to be said that we couldn’t play both of these guys.”

Redshirt sophomore Cole Kelley has the most experience, starting four of nine games and passing for eight touchdowns, four picks and 1,038 yards in 2017.

Redshirt junior Ty Storey has played in just four games and has completed only one pass, which occurred in 2016.

While there are several quarterback battles going on in the SEC, Arkansas wouldn’t be the only team to have their battle continue into the start of the season. Kentucky also plans on playing QB candidates Gunnar Hoak and Terry Wilson to start the season.
