El Ellis, Louisville transfer and Arkansas pledge, announces decision on college future

El Ellis is one of a seemingly endless supply of talented incoming Arkansas basketball transfers that head coach Eric Musselman scored this offseason. The former Louisville transfer was the lone bright spot on a Cardinals team that won just 4 games in 2022.
Ellis is good enough to be a legitimate NBA prospect for the upcoming NBA Draft. In the process of transferring to Arkansas, Ellis left his options open and entered the Draft while maintaining his college eligibility.
Now, that changes. Ellis announced he would be holding on his NBA career for at least one more season, withdrawing from the draft Saturday afternoon.
Arkansas’ El Ellis tells me that he’s withdrawing from the 2023 NBA Draft and will return to school next season. Transfer from Louisville.

Ellis, who stands at 6-3, 180 pounds, averaged 17.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game last season for the Cardinals. He was not a terribly efficient shooter, but also was not operating with much help against Power 6 opponents.
He will join fellow transfers Jeremiah Davenport (Cincinnati), Khalif Battle (Temple), Tramon Mark (Houston) and Keyon Menifield (Washington).
