The Arkansas Razorbacks officially hired SMU coach Chad Morris to replace the fired Bret Bielema on Wednesday, and many of Morris’s former players and coaches are coming out in support of Arkansas’s decision.

Morris served as Clemson’s offensive coordinator from 2011 to 2014, overlapping with star QB Deshaun Watson during that time.

Watson, now a star rookie with the Houston Texans, had a great relationship with Morris and offered his support to his former offensive coordinator:

That’s strong praise from Watson, especially since Morris left prior to Clemson making it to back-to-back title games. Still, the star quarterback recognized Morris’s role in building the Tigers into the juggernaut they are today and the role he had in developing Watson’s game.

If Morris can earn the same amount of respect from his players at Arkansas, the Razorbacks should be able to turn things around sooner rather than later.
