Jalen Williams, who played in junior college in Mississippi before he transferred to Arkansas this past season, is returning to Mississippi.

The former Arkansas defensive lineman announced on social media that he would transfer to Southern Miss. “I am thankful for the opportunity I had at the University of Arkansas,” he wrote, “but after some thought I have decided that I will be transferring to the University of Southern Mississippi.”

The junior college transfer did not appear in a single game during his lone season with the Razorbacks. He is the seventh scholarship player to either officially enter the portal or announce his intention to do so since the Outback Bowl win last Saturday and the 15th overall since November, Hawg Beat reported.

A back injury reportedly limited him in the spring, and he couldn’t meet the coaching staff’s expectations.
