Arkansas’ new head coach is getting a ton of praise from some well-respected figures in college football.

The Razorbacks announced Chad Morris, who was the head coach at SMU, as the new “Head Hog” on Wednesday.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney joined Fayetteville’s Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly on Thursday to talk about his former assistant.

“Chad is a winner. Everywhere he’s been, he’s won,” Swinney said. “And I don’t see that changing. He’s more than ready for this opportunity. He’s very well-prepared, he’s very detailed and organized. He’ll put a great staff together, and he’s going to work his butt off in recruiting.

“I don’t have any doubt that he’ll win,” Swinney added. “I don’t really have a head coaching tree, so I got my first branch … And I’m dang happy that it’s Chad Morris. I don’t have any doubt that he’s going to do a great job at Arkansas.”

Morris was Swinney’s offensive coordinator at Clemson from 2011 through 2014. While at Clemson, Morris implemented a powerful offense and helped developed elite quarterback Deshaun Watson, who led the Tigers to a national championship in 2016.
