Sam Pittman’s Arkansas Razorbacks didn’t leave Tuscaloosa with a win, but the Hogs sure impressed folks.

Alabama escaped with the narrow 42-35 win over Arkansas, and the Hogs matched the physicality of the Crimson Tide and never quit.

Quarterback Bryce Young finished an impressive 31-of-40 for 559 yards and 5 touchdowns. Receiver Jameson Williams finished with 8 catches.

Following the narrow loss to Alabama, Sam Pittman spoke to the media. Below is what Pittman said about Alabama.

Opening Statement

“We obviously played a really good team tonight in the University of Alabama,” Pittman said in his opening statement. “They’re a very very physical football team. Obviously, they have a Heisman Trophy candidate throwing the ball, and they did an outstanding job. Jameson Williams is a special special player. I was very proud of the way we kept coming back. The physicality of our program and we did not come here to lose by 7. We came here to win the game. I think you know that by the way we played. We just ran into a team that was 7 points better than us tonight. They had their team ready to play. Congratulations to Alabama — I believe they won the SEC West tonight.”

On what he told his team after a hard-fought loss

“I felt like we matched the physicality for what Alabama is known for. I just told them the days of getting kicked around and getting our teeth kicked in are over. I think we proved that at least for this week.”

Impression of Bryce Young

“I mean, it says right here he passed for 559 yards. I’d say he’s pretty darn good. He made some really great plays, you know, when he broke the pocket and had a few nice throws to the side and angles. Like (Patrick) Mahomes sometimes out there. They protected him well, and he made a lot of plays. I thought he had a heck of a game. They scored 42 points and threw the ball a whole bunch of times. He had a great game. He should be in the Heisman Trophy talk. He’s a really good player.”
