The Arkansas Razorbacks season is starting to go downhill fast, and it got worse on Saturday, as they lost to the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 7-3.

The Razorbacks scored their field goal on the first drive of the game, after the defense set them up for with an interception. However, that was the last time the team put any points on the board. It was an especially tough day for KJ Jefferson, who finished 19-of-31 for 97 yards and one interception.

The rushing game was also non-existent, finishing with 103 yards on 37 carries. It was an extremely difficult day all-around for the offense, but seeing Jefferson struggle like that has been surprising.

After the game, Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said the amount of hits Jefferson has taken may be playing a role in his struggles.

“Maybe, he just had a bad day,” Pittman said. “He had a good week of practice, I don’t believe there is any type of injury there or anything of that nature, I would’ve known about that. Maybe, the weeks of getting hit in the pocket has rattled him a little bit, I don’t know. I don’t think it’s an injury.”

Pittman said the staff never talked about replacing Jefferson at quarterback.

With the loss, the Razorbacks have now lost six consecutive games with all of them being by 12 points or less. The last three losses are by a combined 14 points. The Razorbacks will be back in action at Florida in two weeks.
