Auburn breezed by Arkansas Saturday, dominating the Razorbacks 48-10 to reach bowl eligibility for the first time since 2021.

It was a complete game from the Tigers as they dominated on defense and put up big numbers on offense. The game was rock bottom for Arkansas, which has had a miserable season outside of last week’s win against Florida. The Razorbacks have already had one coach firing this season, and it seems there could be more coming.

Auburn now has plenty of confidence and momentum heading into its final 2 games of the season. The Tigers should have an easy win next week against New Mexico State before closing out the season against Alabama.

Here are some takeaways from the dominant win.

Ground game shines

Auburn’s run game was dominant in the game, picking up a season-high 359 rushing yards. It was the most rushing yards Auburn has had in a game since 2017.

Jarquez Hunter led the way with 109 rushing yards, but Payton Thorne and Damari Alston also had big games with 88 yards and 64 yards respectively.

Hunter has emerged as a big offensive weapon for the Tigers. The performance on Saturday was the third-straight game with 100+ rushing yards for Hunter. He had a season-high 183 rushing yards last week against Vanderbilt.

Defense ruins Kenny Guiton honeymoon

Arkansas fans had something to root for last week after Kenny Guiton led the Razorbacks to a season-high 39 points against Florida. It was a positive sign after Arkansas fired former offensive coordinator Dan Enos and Guiton took over as the interim offensive coordinator.

Auburn quickly ruined Guiton’s honeymoon.

The Razorbacks couldn’t get anything going on the offensive end, scoring just 10 points and going 1-for-12 on 3rd down. Arkansas punted the ball 8 times and had 2 turnovers.

Auburn’s going bowling

The Tigers are going bowling in Hugh Freeze’s first season.

It’s a positive sign after a lot of uncertainty heading into the season and a 4-game losing skid in the middle of the season. Auburn is still working on getting a complete team together, but the more time Freeze has, the more success the Tigers will have.

Auburn still has a chance to pick up 2 more wins, but being bowl eligible is a win in itself.
